Peugeot 3008 SUV To Be Launched at The End of 2009

Peugeot 3008 SUV To Be Launched at The End of 2009

Here’s a top-secret Peugeot you’re not supposed to see until late next year! This is the all-new 3008 off-roader, and it promises to be the most car-like SUV yet.

The tough-looking family model will go head-to-head with rivals such as Nissan’s Qashqai and the Volkswagen Tiguan. And as our exclusive picture shows, it takes styling cues – especially those slanted headlights – from the 308 RC Z coupé, driven by Auto Express in Issue 993.

Our spy photographers have also captured a heavily disguised 3008 test mule undergoing cold weather trials (right). This confirms the newcomer’s chunky, estate-style profile and low ride height, which should mean a spacious interior and car-like handling.

Inside, as well as providing plenty of room, the model will be available with a range of luxury options. These are likely to include a panoramic glass roof and integrated sat-nav.

Peugeot’s success with HDi Diesel Engines – 10 million

PSA Peugeot Citroen has now built over 10,000,000 HDi diesel engines since the launch of HDi technology in 1998

The PSA Group is a world leader in diesel engine technology and the European leader in the development of clean diesel engines.

“The success of the HDi engine has been due to a combination of customer demand for the environmentally kinder engine and what PSA Peugeot Citroen has to offer in regards to the FAP Particle Filter.”

“This technology is available internationally in a large range of diesel engines, from the 1.6 litre to the 2.7 litre engine. We are very proud that our company is leading the world in developing environmentally kinder engine technology, and 10 million engines is testament to the quality of the product. All new Peugeot passenger vehicles sold in New Zealand are equipped with the revolutionary emission reducing filter technology”.

908 HDi FAPs FINISH SECOND AND THIRD

The 2008 Le Mans 24 Hour race produced one of the most exciting finishes in years and ended with Team Peugeot Total securing its second consecutive second place with the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP in the famous endurance race.

The N°7 car shared by Marc Gené/Nicolas Minassian/Jacques Villeneuve emerged from the rainy early morning as the team's best chance for victory and the trio never gave up the chase. The N°7 car was joined on the podium at the finish by the N°9 sister car of Franck Montagny/Ricardo Zonta/Christian Klien, while the third Peugeot 908 HDi FAP made it three cars in the final top-five.

Peugeot 1.4 - 1.8 Litre Wins Engine Of The Year Awards

BIG CAR PERFORMANCE WINS INTERNATIONAL ENGINE OF THE YEAR

Peugeot’s commitment to developing fuel efficient engines that deliver big car performance is rewarded with success at the 2008 International Engine of the Year Awards, winning the 1.4 -1.8 litre category for the second year in a row.

“This is one of the first small engines able to deliver performance normally found in bigger engines.” Stated competition judge Dan Vardie from Romania’s Autoshow.

“New Zealanders tell us they want to save money on fuel without sacrificing performance or versatility – that is just what the Peugeot 207 and 308 models offer,” said Peugeot New Zealand general manager John Keenan.

“This is the second year in a row this engine has won. In 2007 the award strengthened Peugeot’s sustainability credentials with the win over the 1.5-litre Toyota Prius. The continued success of this engine in the 2008 awards adds further strength to Peugeot’s domination of the low emission, high power small engine segment of the market,” Mr Keenan added.

    Peugeot 308 HDi

The 308 HDi could seriously change your outlook on driving!

Getting into the 308 for the first time is a very enlightening experience.

A huge, panoramic glass roof lets light flood in from outside to give you an amazing sense of freedom and space and increases the glass area, brightening up everyone’s journey.

And you can breathe easier knowing you are driving a vehicle that significantly reduces the amount of polluting particles released in the air. And by pioneering the use of particulate filters (FAP) in the 308 HDi engine, emissions are reduced to barely measurable amounts which helps to preserve the environment without spoiling the performance of your 308 HDi.

Peugeot 407 Coupé Spacious and Elegant

Peugeot 407 Coupé Spacious and Elegant!

The definitive version of the 407 Coupé, set to come onto the market in October, is banking on comfort, aesthetics and power too, thanks to the long-awaited 204 hp V6 HdI diesel engine.

With this new Coupé, Peugeot is hoping to do better than the 107,660 406 Coupés sold between 1997 and 2004. The Coupé tradition at Peugeot is, however, nothing new. Just think back to the marvellous 1935 402 Éclipse with its retractable hardtop (550 units), the 1962 404 Coupé designed by Pininfarina (6,837 units) and the 1969 504 Coupé, also available in cabriolet version (22,975 units up until 1983). Each of these models marked its era.

Aesthetically, Peugeot has set aside the famous Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina and gone with the proposals of its own designers. The result is an aggressive and dynamic body, reinforced by a swept-back windscreen - taut lines which give this model something of a shark-like appearance. The rounded spoiler tempers this aggression, making the coupé more civilised and human.

Peugeot 308 Hybrid HDi gets 69 mpg with only 90 g/km of CO2

French automaker Peugeot will be showing the latest iteration of their diesel-hybrid demonstration vehicles at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. Previously they had shown a 307 and also Citroen C4 with a diesel parallel hybrid powertrain. The new car is based on the recently-introduced 308 which is a C-Class-sized car similar to the Ford Focus or Chevy Cobalt.

The new 308 hybrid HDi has a 107hp 1.6L diesel along with a 21hp electric motor. On the EU combined cycle the 308 is rated at 69mpg (US) and only 90g/km of CO2. That puts it very close to the latest Smart ForTwo diesel which gets 72mpg / 88 g/km but in a much more practical five-seat package. Production is currently targeted for 2010. All the details are after the jump.

    Peugeot 207 Van Road Test

    Peugeot 207 Van
Supermini-based vans constitute the first rung on the light commercial vehicle ladder. The polar opposite of hulking large panel vans like the Mercedes Sprinter, if your load-carrying requirements don't measure up to something like this, the smallest of all vans, you could probably make do with a wheelbarrow. While they might be small in stature and have payload capacities little better than those of your average family hatchback, vehicles like Peugeot's 207 van still find a ready market amongst UK companies. Sometimes nimble handling and low running costs are preferable to sheer lugging ability and it's here that vans like the 207 come into their own.

    Peugeot 4007 Press Release:

    Peugeot’s desirability off-road

The launch of Project”I3”, Peugeot's code name for the 4007, is the marque's response to strong growth in the market for compact all-terrain vehicles in Europe, which recorded an increase in volume of 11.3% between 2005 and 2006, and represents more than 1.1 million registered vehicles.

The segment occupied by the 4007, the Medium TT2, increased by 7% over the same period, rising from 457,000 to 488,000 units from one year to the next.
At the end of the first quarter of 2007, the increase was even more marked, with TT2 volumes rising from 129,000 units to 156,000 units at the end of March, an increase of +21 %. Although significant, these volumes are limited in absolute terms and accordingly favoured a partnership approach between the PSA Peugeot Citroën group and the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, a recognised specialist in 4x4 technology.

The cooperation contract was signed with the Mitsubishi Motors Corporation on 13 July 2005.
Production of the Peugeot 4007 began in mid-April with a view to its commercial launch at the beginning of July.
