The Peugeot 107 is a city car produced by the French automaker Peugeot since summer 2005.

The 107 was developed by the B-Zero project of Peugeot and Citroën in a joint-venture with Toyota; the Citroën C1 and Toyota Aygo are rebadged versions of the same car. All three are built at the new facilities of the Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile Czech joint-venture in the city of Kolin, Czech
Republic. It is a four-seater available as a three or five-door hatchback. The 107 replaces the 106, which ceased production at the end of 2003 after 12 years.

Peugeot believes that the 107 will appeal to a younger audience between the ages of 18 and 24, with 68% being women drivers. This is a difficult market to crack as it is all about credability, fortunately Peugeot have found favour with the younger generation. Personally I find it hard to believe that many young men will aspire to the Peugeot 107 but I guess time will tell.

So far the 107 has proved to be quite popular with British buyers, giving them a more modern and practical alternative to the likes of the Ford Ka and Vauxhall Agila.

The 107 Range is the Most Popular Trim Level

The 107 comes in four trim levels:

  • The most basic and cheapest 107 available is the Urban Lite. Lacking the accessories of higher trim  levels, it features manual wind up windows, unpainted wing mirrors, no door protectors and two     airbags. It also lacks a rev counter and air conditioning.

    * The Urban is considered the most popular trim level for the 107 range. More options are available
such as an optional tachometer or air conditioning. It also has side air bags, door protectors,
colour coded mirrors, remote central locking and electric windows.

    * The Urban Move is equipped as standard with air conditioning, a tachometer and metallic paint. The
Move is available in Zircon Grey and Raven Black. The interior which features Matrix Red Cloth adds
to the exclusivity of the Move.

    * A 'Sport XS' trim level was also offered but was withdrawn in February 2008. It came in a range of
four colours with corresponding body stripes and mirror colours (Diamond White with red stripes,
Raven Black with red stripes, Laser Red with white stripes and Zircon Grey with black stripes),
alloy wheels, sports exhaust, spoilers on the front bumper and red interior highlights as standard.

The 107 is really a city orientated car and at only 3430mm long it is quite a compact car. On the road the
107 drives pretty much identically to its Toyota and Citroen equivalents, too. The 1.0 litre petrol engine
is a gem, spinning sweetly to deliver respectable performance when you need it but turning in excellent
fuel economy figures the rest of the time. The Peugeot 107 is identical to the Citroen C1 and Toyota Aygo.
There's just a 68bhp three-cylinder one-litre petrol or a 1.4-litre diesel with 55bhp available. Still,
performance is actually quite good with both engines allowing the C1/107/Aygo to weave its way through busy
city traffic. Both perform well on the motorway too, although the three-cylinder can start to sound loud
and buzzy after a while, and you have to be rough with the five-speed gearbox to get the best out of it.
The 1.4 diesel is a much more grown-up engine and so turns the cars into a relaxed performer.

So,Whether you want a car that's simplicity itself or stacked with all the latest mod cons finding you
perfect partner has never been easier
